About this blog

Originally, this set out as the wattwatt blog with our ideas on where we thought wattwatt was going in terms of electrical energy efficiency and the role standardization can play. Now this is the official IEC blog.  We want to get closer to our roots with information on international standardization and the role it plays in our everyday lives.

About the IEC

The International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, founded in 1906.

The IEC’s members are National Committees, and they appoint experts and delegates coming from industry, government bodies, associations and academia to participate in the technical and conformity assessment work of the IEC.

The International Electrotechnical Commission serves world markets and society through its standardization and conformity assessment work for all electrical, electronic and related technologies – collectively known as “electrotechnology”.

The IEC promotes world trade and economic growth and encourages the development of products, systems and services that are safe, efficient and environmentally friendly.
