Preparations for the official opening of our Africa Regional Centre (IEC-AFRC) which is taking place on 2 November in Nairobi, Kenya are progressing well.
The role of IEC-AFRC will be to facilitate African electrotechnical innovation and contribute towards enabling access to safe and sustainable power for all Africans. As the regional focal point for Africa, the Centre will assist IEC African countries in establishing their National Committees and cooperate closely with the African Electrotechnical Standardization Commission (AFSEC) to promote IEC work.
Electricity is fundamental for the economic growth of a country and the well-being of its people. IEC provides the technical background needed to develop a number of sustainable energy technologies, such as off-grid power generation or solar lamps. The IEC-AFRC office will help facilitate the provision of clean, safe renewable energy technologies across Africa.
