Busan in South Korea has had a new level of excitement, with 80 of the world’s most inspiring young professionals, innovators and future leaders joining the IEC General Meeting and participating in the 2018 IEC Young Professionals Programme.
It was a pleasure to support Robert McLaren, Katharine Fraga and the IEC team again in 2018 with the YP programme and pass on experience and tips in leading IEC committees and developing successful standards.
I am always inspired by the innovation and excitement the YP’s have, as well as their eagerness to learn and to launch right into the IEC and global standardisation world. Agile working is certainly at the heart of the new IEC Masterplan and its how the YPs approach everyday life—a perfect mix to deliver the vision of ‘IEC everywhere for a safer, more efficient world’.
It was great to see the genuine support from IEC President James Shannon and General Secretary and CEO Frans Vreeswijk who were so encouraging of the YP’s and expressed their eagerness to be part of the hands-on work next year.
I really encourage other IEC experts and leaders to support the Young Professionals in the coming years, learn from the future generation and enjoy this journey!
Congratulations to all the YPs on a great week of learning, collaboration, sharing experiences and making IEC work fun.
