Students from around the world have the opportunity to test their knowledge of technology and science at the International Standards Olympiad that will take place in South Korea from 23 – 25 July. This event is sponsored by the IEC.
The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) and the Korean Standards Association (KSA) will organize the 14th International Standards Olympiad which brings together 25 teams of students aged 13 to 18.
Each team, selected by through preliminary national competitions, will devise a model and portfolio of a standardization principle that will be presented during the International Standards Olympiad. Teams will be evaluated on the creativity, functionality and the economic viability of their project. Students must also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the standard and be able to explain the principles used
Since 2006, KATS and KSA have been organizing the International Standards Olympiad to facilitate an understanding of standards and their importance among students. It creates a dynamic environment where students can explore the world of standardization. The 14th International Standards Olympiad will be held at the KSA Educational Development Institute located in the city of Anseong. Further information can be found on the Standards Olympiad website.
